Morgan's Birthday Celebration

So on Saturday, June 19, a group of friend gathered to celebrate Morgan's birthday. And since she's such a grown-up girl now, we couldn't think of a more fun place than the T-Rex Restaurant in Downtown Disney to celebrate! It may have been raining outside, but it was all meteor showers inside. We were sat in the ice age room, where the colors of the walls were changing now and then. The waitress actually had to warn us that the food would look funny because of the lights (yep, my strawberries were black under some of the lighting, but notice how Morgan's red trim on her shirt looks black in some of the photos). After dinner, Morgan helped make her very own Sunshine the Philosoraptor friend. Then off to Raglan Road where Morgan's request of "The Orange and the Green" were accepted and played by the live band.

GO USA! (Not that I'm into the World Cup or Anything)

So the week before the World Cup started and the US played England, Anne and I decided to make a variation of the revolutionary war battle flag which said "Don't Tread On Me." Of course, that flag was black and gold, and we wanted a red, white, and blue variation to show our colors. So we modeled it actually on the Nike logo of a similar vane.

So with a little of Anne's grid-making free-hand skills and a handy blade she had, we got some fabric, created a design, and hand-painted it ourselves. The star was cut out and sewn on, then the snake, white banner, and lettering is all hand-painted. A little trivia -- the original "Don't Tread On Me" banner was also hand-painted.

So we've had quite the time in Disney already this summer. Aunt Mary and Robby came to EPCOT with us, then the Fernandes' and I went back the next week. Anne and I visited Animal Kingdom the day after we saw the Swell Season perform at Orlando's Hard Rock Cafe venue. Here are some photos from those trips.
